New Direction System
Offered at Palos Community Hospital’s Primary Care Center. A comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to weight control that combines a dietary regimen with education and counseling. Clients gain personal insight into their eating and activity habits so they can permanently alter their lifestyle to achieve weight control. The system has two programs:
- New Direction This program is for those with more than 40 pounds to lose. This is a medically supervised approach to rapid weight loss. The program utilizes a protein-sparing modified fast.
- Outlook This program is for those with at least 15 pounds to lose. This program combines conventional meal plans with a nutritional beverage to promote a gradual weight loss.

Quick Fix Weigh-In Option
For individuals who desire accountability for their efforts but have time restraints. Meet individually with our Registered Dietitian ten times over a 3-month period. Each 10 minute session will include a weigh-in, an assessment of your progress, support, advice and motivation for ongoing success
Cost: Members $210, non-members $300.
Shapedown
This specialized, family centered program promotes safe short and long-term weight loss for overweight children ages 9 to 17. Shapedown integrates the principles of nutrition, physical activity, enhanced self-esteem and healthy lifestyle choices.

Weight Wise with Exercise
Find the balance you’ve been looking for with this 8-week weight management program. Offered in conjunction with the PCH Outpatient Nutrition Department, this program combines guided exercise with proven weight control techniques and nutrition counseling to create a highly effective weight management program.
